Release the Kraken

I made my escape under the cover of night
Past cookie cutter strip malls, beyond the urban blight
Past canaries in a coal mine in a faux gilded cage
While the fates were debating, my muse caught a rage

I smiled at her with my best wicked grin
My mysterious paramour was looking mighty thin
Our mutual seduction lacked the usual traps
Like Pooh Bear with a honey pot, I didn't need a map

I wanna be a rich man, I wanna be a thief
I wanna be a pirate, and sail the seven seas
Tuesday afternoons I'd take my rum with tea
And then get to say ... "watch out, its a trap ...
Release the Kraken"

The ultimate trap is not knowing you're not free
But you're never alone, you're always in good company
Slow boiling frogs in a dystopian stew
Lemmings on a cliff with nothing better to do

We've arrived at the future and I don't know what to do
I was hoping for ambrosia, all I got was GM food
I'm just looking for some peace of mind
In this nutty screwed up place
I'm just trying to be human, forget the frickin' race

I wanna be a rich man, I wanna be a thief
I wanna be a pirate, and sail the seven seas
Tuesday afternoons I'd take my rum with tea
And then get to say ... "watch out, its a trap ...
Release the Kraken"

I made my escape on a dark and rainy night
Covered my trail, disappeared from sight
Tell Davey Jones that I'm doin' alright
Its time to feed his pet
Release the Kraken
